Registers Growth In Auto Partsˇ¦ Exports
BY DANIEL FOONG May 12, 2005 Auto Parts Exports Taiwan manufacturers achieved 18 percent growth last year in the export of auto parts, amounting to NT$127.37 billion,the statistics released by the Taiwan Transportation Vehicles Manufacturers Association (TTVMA) show. The United States was the biggest market
for Taiwan-made auto parts, amounting to NT$45.33 billion, representing 35.5 percent of Taiwanˇ¦s total exports of
auto parts, according to TTVMA figures. The U.S. orders last year accounted for
an 18.4 percent increase over the year
before. Purchases from mainland China, the
second biggest buyer of Taiwanˇ¦s auto parts last year, were valued at NT$10.81
billion,a whopping increase of 172 percent.
Coming closely behind mainland China was Hong Kong, whose orders amounted to NT$8.05 billion, a slide of 23.4 percent
from the year before. Japan and Great Britain were the four
and fifth biggest markets for auto parts made by Taiwan manufacturers, amounting
to NT$6.08 billion and NT$3.60
billion respectively. Orders from Germany amounted to NT$3.59
billion, an increase of 21percent; Canada at NT$3.46 billion, a 26 percent growth; Australia at NT$3 billion, a
rise of 24 percent; and Italy at NT$2.7 billion, a jump of 12 percent. Other countries buying auto parts from
Taiwan include Vietnam, the Philippines, the United Arab Emirates, Mexico,
Thailand,South Africa, The Netherlands,
Indonesia, Malaysia, Saudi Arabia, Spain, Singapore, Belgium, Turkey, Iran,
France and others. Sharp imports
Meanwhile, Taiwan imported NT$86.73
billion worth of auto parts in 2004, an increase of 29.44 percent from the same period last year. Orders from
Japan, the biggest supplier, amounted to NT$59.68 billion, an increase of 46.78
percent. South Korea and Germany were the second and third biggest suppliers, valued at NT$4.59 billion and NT$3.72 billion respectively. ˇ@ |
